The Foto MakeOver day gives you the chance to spend an exclusive day with Andy, analyzing your whole workflow from start to finish. It’s a complete overhaul of your techniques, both in front of the computer and the camera, and will benefit those photographers looking to move their images onto the next level. There is no other workshop that looks at your photography and techniques in so much detail, Andy will be exclusively focused on improving your photography for the day. Of course there are many cheaper One on One days, but none have Andy’s level of expertise and award winning wildlife photography (9 straight BBC WPOTY awards in 7 years).

Your Day
Everyone is different of course and we will tailor the program to your requirements. Each day though will have the same core format:
Client "Louise" - she really wanted to improve her action photography for a 3 week "safari of a lifetime" that she had been gifted later in the year. At the start of the day Andy sat down with her and analysed her ten favourite shots, looking at what issues she had with her photography and getting a sense for what she wanted to achieve. He could see some issues with her use of focus, and also of her use of aperture and light angles. Then they shot together at the BWC for several hours, using flying owls as a teaching aid, with Andy explaining his action techniques every step of the way and analysing her shots as she took them. In this way he was able to identify the issues that she was having and correct them straight away, thus ensuring that she could see the difference immediately. Then for the final 2 hours of the day Andy showed Louise how to process the images that she had taken, going through all aspects of the editing workflow before showing her how to finish off her images to a professional standard. During the day they discussed all manner of photographic subjects including producing websites, image copyright, self publishing photo books, sharing images, colour profiling...in fact you name it they discussed it and Louise really used Andy’s time to the max.
Locations
To get the most from your day it is best to spend it somewhere that photographs of animals can be guaranteed. There is little point Andy taking anyone out deer stalking for example, as you are not guaranteed to get anything and he would not be able to teach you to the level that he would want to. Our preferred venue is the British Wildlife Centre (near Gatwick), where you can get great pictures of foxes, otters, wildcats, all manner of owls. Using Andy’s intimate knowledge of the BWC will allow you to get great pictures that are otherwise not possible during a group workshop. During the practical shooting session at the BWC it is possible to concentrate on many different photographic techniques and this is the reason why it is our preferred venue.

Pricing
The price for the basic day outlined above is £899 + VAT, which includes all Andy’s location fees and services plus lunch. This includes all of Andy’s travel to the British Wildlife Centre. If you want an alternative venue then please contact us for a quote as travel expenses will be charged. After booking you will be sent a confirmation by email and be contacted directly by Andy to sort out dates and locations.

Your Day

- Portfolio Review - an in depth analysis and critique of your ten favourite shots. This will allow Andy to assess any areas for improvement for him to concentrate on and to get a flavour for your style of photography.
- Shooting Session - a practical 4-5 hours (depending on season) of photography where you will get the exclusive benefit of his photographic experience, light positioning, exposure control, creativity and compositional knowledge. You will learn a variety of techniques including action photography, portraiture, creative composition as well as the technical knowledge to understand how to apply these to your photography in the future.
- Workflow Overview - using his workflow experience and knowledge of software, plug-ins and processing techniques, Andy will show you how to edit and process the images that you have just shot.
