Andy wins Cherry Kearton award
It was an amazing day yesterday at the Royal Geographical Society. I received their annual award for photography, the Cherry Kearton award, from the outgoing president Michael Palin. What a top chap he was too, had some fun banter with him that shall remain between us, but he was everything that you’d want him to be and soooo passionate about geography and conservation:

In fact he gave one of the best intro speeches to my award that I have ever had! So much so that I took a short video on the Canon G12, so please take a look here:

I felt really honoured to get the award too as their was such esteemed company there. Alastair Fothergill from the BBC NHU received a medal too, as did Simon Reeve from the TV (Indian Ocean series plus a few others). On top of there were professors and educators, all contributing to the world of geography and the need to enthuse children to care more about the world around them. Thanks to Giles and Louise for hosting me and all that I managed to chat to during the day. It will occupy pride of place in my office, a reminder that some people on this planet do recognise what I do and appreciate it. Thank you RGS, you made my year get even better (if that were possible) and wifey was there to see it all too!!!
